TRAVEL TO BARCELONA BY PLANE


Airport: Josep Tarradellas Barcelona – El Prat Airport, also known as Barcelona Airport or El Prat Airport, is situated 13 km southwest of the city centre (Plaça de Catalunya). The airport abbreviation is BCN.


Travel from airport to city center: There are several options to travel from the airport to the city center (general info can be found at https://www.barcelona-airport.com/eng/transport.php):

Aerobus: This is an express bus service that runs between the airport and the city center. The bus serves terminals T1 and T2 and runs 24 hours a day with a frequency of 5-20 minutes, depending on the terminal and the time of day. A one-way ticket is €5.90, and a round trip is €10.20 with a validity of 90 days. When traveling into the city, major stops are at Plaça d’Espanya and Plaça de Catalunya, from which you can catch the metro lines L1 and L3 to reach your final destination. Taxi: There are taxi stands outside all terminals, with signs pointing the way. A taxi ride into the city center costs around €25-€30, plus a €4.30 surcharge for trips to/from the airport.
Metro: The metro line L9 serves the airport, with stops at both terminals T1 and T2. From this line, you can transfer to the red line (L1) at Torrassa, the blue (L5) line at Collblanc, or the green line (L3) at Zona Universitària to continue to your final destination in Barcelona. A one-way metro ticket from the airport costs €5.15, and allows transfer to any other metro lines in the city. The trip on the L9 from the airport to one of the connecting stations is approximately 30 minutes.
Train: The Renfe train system also connects from the airport to the city. The train station is located at terminal T2, and runs every 30 minutes from approximately 6am to 11:30pm. Major stops in Barcelona are at Sants Estació (connection to L3 and L5 metro lines), Passeig de Gràcia (L2, L3, and L4), and El Clot-Aragó (L1 and L2 at Clot metro station). A one-way ticket costs €4.50 and the trip takes 20-30 minutes depending on the stop.

TRAVEL TO BARCELONA BY TRAIN


The are two main train stations in Barcelona:

Sants Estació: Sants Station is the primary train station in Barcelona. From here you can pick up the L3 or L5 metro lines to reach your final destination in the city. There are also many taxis available outside the station entrance.
Estació de França: This station is located near the city park and the main beach in Barcelona, with the nearest metro stop at Barceloneta (yellow line L4), a 5-minute walk from the station.

The are one main bus stations in Barcelona:

Estació Nord: Nord station is the primary bus station in Barcelona, with the closest metro stops approximately a 10-minute walk away at Marina (red line L1) or Tetuan (purple line L2).

TRAVEL TO BARCELONA BY CAR


The city is well-connected, and while street parking can be tricky, there are a large number of underground parking garages available throughout the city.
